Our next customer-submitted recipe comes to us from Dr. Ulla Svane, D.C. Dr. Ulla is one of those people who “talks the talk” and “walks the walk.” As a doctor of chiropractic medicine, she believes in the importance of taking care of your body, both inside and out. We’ve appreciated her support of our neighborhood school, our store, and we sure are grateful for this wonderful recipe. She writes: “My friendship with smoothies started years ago, with a gluten/dairy free diet. One of my key ingredients is oil, good quality, cold pressed oil. A special gift to my brain, my skin, my joints and all the other places in my body longing for essential fats. I discovered blood orange infused oil. I am addicted….it is the taste of sunrise, fresh and warm at the same time. It now has a star status in my morning smoothie, together with kale, blueberry and chia seeds. It is like ice-cream for breakfast.”
Like all other smoothies you can always substitute ingredients (different fruit, yogurt, etc.) but do yourself a favor…at least once, try this one exactly as listed. We did and we now know why Dr. Ulla calls it an “Ice Cream” smoothie!
