‘Hair of the Dog’ drink or just the ideal brunch cocktail, a homemade Bloody Mary will outdo those made with bottled mixes every time. Typically you start with tomato juice and vodka but then the variations expand from there. We found our newest balsamic was the perfect ingredient for homemade bloody mary mix. The Olive This! Neapolitan Herb is our first savory dark balsamic and it adds just the right amount of depth when combined with the other spices and flavorings. Whip up a batch of these, with or without alcohol, and you’ll never reach for the bottled mix again.
INGREDIENTS
- 12 ounces tomato juice
- 6 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce Olive This! Neapolitan Herb balsamic vinegar
- ½ ounce Worcestershire sauce
- 1½ teaspoons horseradish
- ½ ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice (use the wedges for garnish)
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 4 celery stalks with leaves attached
DIRECTIONS
Mix together the tomato juice, vodka, Neapolitan Herb balsamic, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, lemon juice and salt (all but the ground pepper and celery stalks).
Fill four glasses with ice. Add drink mix to each glass, garnish with celery stalk and lemon wedge and top with freshly ground black pepper to taste. For an immediately chilled beverage, do what the bartenders do: mix the ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake to chill and strain over ice in individual glasses. Enjoy!
